In this volume, I’ll be highlighting three fantastic Thai restaurants in Bakersfield, Kern County, California: Blue Elephant Thai Cuisine, C-Fresh, and Blue Table Thai, owned by a Thai entrepreneur. I hope you enjoy this culinary journey with us!
In addition to overseeing three renowned restaurants, all expertly managed by Khun Treerat Iamurairat, I’d like to take a moment to share his remarkable story. Many know him as Khun Treerat or Khun Jimmy, but behind the success of this celebrated Thai restaurateur lies a journey of resilience and determination. How did he become the successful business owner and well-known figure across California that he is today? What challenges has he faced, and what drives him to keep going, even in the face of major health struggles? Join us as we delve into the life of Khun Treerat Iamurairat and explore the motivations that have inspired him to persevere despite adversity.
SawasdeeUSA: Could you please introduce yourself?
Treerat: Hello, my name is Treerat Iamurairat. I’ve been using this name since I was in Thailand. When I moved to Los Angeles, people simply called me “Treerat.” However, when I started a business in Bakersfield, I found that “Treerat” was difficult for many people to pronounce. To make things easier, I began going by “Jimmy” instead. In short, I go by Treerat in LA and Jimmy in Bakersfield.
SawasdeeUSA: Can you tell us about your original and background?
Treerat: I was born and raised in Bangkok, coming from an ordinary family. My parents were hardworking, and they took on various jobs to support us. They were small merchants, selling items in the market, where they would offer three products for just 10 baht. Eventually, my father transitioned to running a curtain business, which, to this day, is still owned by the family. He passed the reins of the business to his siblings to manage.
I have four siblings, and I’m the oldest. We were fortunate because our parents prioritized education and made sure we all attended good schools. I earned a degree in industrial engineering, my second sibling graduated in medicine, the third completed an engineering degree, and the youngest pursued a degree in pharmacy.
สวัสดีค่ะเพื่อนๆ ผู้อ่านที่รักและคิดถึงทุกคน เราเดินทางมาถึงเล่มที่ 4 กันแล้วนะคะ กับคอลัมน์ Dine with Us วันนี้ดิฉันขออนุญาต แนะนำร้านอาหาร 3 ร้านในคราวเดียวกัน นั่นก็คือ ร้าน Blue Elephant Thai Cuisine ร้าน C-Fresh และร้านสุดท้าย Blue Table Thai โดยเจ้าของคนไทย ซึ่งร้านอาหารทั้ง 3 แห่งอยู่ ในเมือง Bakersfield ของ Kern County รัฐแคลิฟอร์เนีย
ภายใต้การบริหารงานโดย คุณตรีรัตน์ เอี่ยมอุไรรัตน์ นอกจากร้านอาหารที่มีชื่อเสียงทั้ง 3 ร้านแล้ว ดิฉันอยากให้ทุกคนได้รู้จักกับความเป็นมาของเขาว่ากว่าจะมาเป็นคุณตรีรัตน์ หรือ คุณจิมมี่ เจ้าของธุรกิจคนไทยที่ประสบความสำเร็จและเป็นที่ รู้จักอย่างกว้างขวางในรัฐแคลิฟอร์เนีย ชีวิตของเขาผ่านอะไรมาบ้าง และมีแรงบันดาลใจอะไรในการใช้ชีวิตหลังผ่านความเป็นความตายจากโรคร้ายมาแล้ว เรามาทำความรู้จัก คุณตรีรัตน์ เอี่ยมอุไรรัตน์ ไปพร้อมๆ กันนะคะ

สวัสดีครับ ผมตรีรัตน์ เอี่ยมอุไรรัตน์ ชื่อและนามสกุลนี้ผมใช้มาตั้งแต่อยู่เมืองไทยครับ แต่พอผมย้ายมาอยู่ที่สหรัฐอเมริกา ที่ LA ชื่อ “ตรีรัตน์” แต่เมื่อผมมาเปิดร้านที่เมือง Bakersfield ปรากฎว่าชื่อตรีรัตน์ออกเสียงยากสำหรับฝรั่ง ผมก็เลยใช้ชื่อจิมมี่แทน สรุปแล้วผมมีสองชื่อ คือ ตรีรัตน์ (LA) และ จิมมี่ (Bakersfield) ครับ
พื้นเพของคุณตรีรัตน์เป็นคนที่ไหนคะ
ผมเป็นคนกรุงเทพฯ โดยกำเนิดครับ มาจากครอบครัวธรรมดา สมัยก่อนคุณพ่อคุณแม่ทำมาหลายอาชีพครับ ค้าขายธรรมดา หาเช้ากินค่ำ เป็นครอบครัวปกติทั่วๆ ไปครับ เราเคยขายของตามตลาดนัด ขายของ 3 อย่าง 10 บาท หลังจากนั้นคุณพ่อคุณแม่ก็เปลี่ยนมาทำร้านผ้าม่านครับ แต่ปัจจุบันนี้กิจการร้านผ้าม่านก็เป็นของครอบครัว โดยคุณพ่อให้น้องๆ ของเขามาทำต่อครับ
ตัวผมมีพี่น้องทั้งหมด 4 คน ผมเป็นคนโตครับ พวกเราสี่คนพี่น้องโชคดีที่คุณพ่อคุณแม่ส่งเสียให้ลูกๆ ได้เรียนหนังสือดีๆ หมดทุกคน สำหรับคุณพ่อคุณแม่ของผม การศึกษาเป็นสิ่งสำคัญที่สุดสำหรับลูกๆ ผมเรียนจบด้านโรงงานอุตสาหกรรม น้องคนที่สองจบแพทยศาสตร์ น้องคนที่สามจบวิศวกรรมศาสตร์ และคนสุดท้องจบเภสัชศาสตร์
